Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are an amazing group. They come from a diverse background of Spanish-speaking countries, Columbia, Peru, Cuba, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. They come with limited English proficiency. The students I teach come to me not understanding English or understanding very little. We are a self-contained ESOl class.

They are special to me because they have an eagerness to learn and a willingness to work hard in spite of their limitations.

We are a Title I school with the majority of students on free and reduced-price lunch. Many of my students do not have access to computers or tablets at home.

My Project

The use of HP Chromebooks will assist my students in acquiring English through Imagine Learning, a program designed specifically for English Language Learners. When using laptops during differentiated instruction, I am better able to monitor and assist students in completing assigned lessons.

The use of technology will make learning exciting and fun for students who do not have access outside of school.

We have limited desktops for use in our classrooms. With 24 students, someone usually does not get an opportunity on the computer. The HP Chromebooks will assist us in making all students computer savvy while learning English in an interactive way.
