My Students

My students are high school students primarily from the Bronx, a diverse population of students.

My students have varying levels of abilities when it comes to academics but they all have something at which they excel.

My school encourages the development of the arts and students find a place here where they are able to express themselves creatively.

Our school is located in an area defined as a low socioeconomic neighborhood and many times students have not been given the same opportunities or exposure as their peers in other neighborhoods. Even with that disadvantage, however, my students are eager and ready to learn and prove themselves as valuable parts of their community.

My Project

Students as they are being introduced to new concepts should be able to explore in as many ways as possible. By using the building blocks to model behaviors and patterns I can give them the opportunity to physically interact with complex concepts, that they may not have been previously able to visualize.

Robotics provides a physical application of the programming and problem-solving skills.

The Edison V2 educational robots will be shared by several students, which will emphasize the collaborative nature of computing. In order to design, build and improve their robots, students will need to apply effective team practices and understand the different roles that are important for success.

Mrs. Peters Bronx High School for Writing and Communication Arts Grades 9-12

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
