Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every year I get students who have high expectations from me as their science teacher. Very often I would start the lesson with "Guess what we are going to do today?" That would make them open their mouths and eyes and just wait anxiously. And every time, I have something exciting.

My students are from different cultures, ethnicities, and religions.

We are a very diversified school. Students attend our school which has no budget for updating and enhancing the 21st Century skills they will need to possibly become America's future scientists and engineers. My students come to our school with the expectation of experiencing my unique lessons that include a real-life application. Some of my students are with Special needs and disabilities.

My Project

My students will use the MacBook laptop to participate in a computer programming research called Promoting Equitable and Accessible Science: Extending the Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading Curriculum to Middle School. This two months project incorporates integrates hands-on investigations with reading, writing, and talking science. With this computer and programming lessons, my students will share ideas and complete research. My students will also learn new and unique middle school approaches to support students’ understanding of these practices. Using this latest version of the Mac laptop will help my students to understand and master a new (21st century), advanced, and sophisticated program, where they will learn to use simulations to create scientific models to explore the topic. My students will use modified version of this project due to some of their special needs.

Students will interact with the curriculum through digital devices such as this MacBook and engage in interactive simulations and class activities designed to enhance understanding and build science abilities and practices.

My students will be better prepared for future.
