Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher who works with students who have individualized education plans or are identified as being at risk for academic failure. I work with approximately thirty students per day in groups of no more than eight students.

I may be biased, but I am lucky enough to work with some of the most kind, resilient, and determined children.

All of my students encounter academic struggles on a daily basis. My job is to provide students with the skills and strategies they need to be successful. My students love to laugh with me and at me. We are hardworking and we like to have fun. My school is located in an urban community in Queens where there is a high percentage of families in the community that speak more than one language.

My Project

If I am lucky enough to receive these resources, I would use them to access parts of the curriculum that require technology. Many parts of our curriculum have interactive components that my student population would benefit from. Since I currently do not have a working printer, it is very challenging for me to print any materials I create or find online. A working printer and computer would open the door to many instructional opportunities that I currently do not have.

I currently do not have a working computer and printer at my finger tips.

Part of being a teacher is teaching students academic content and how to successfully navigate their surroundings. Technology is everywhere. In this day and age it is nearly impossible to effectively educate students without having access to technology. Having a computer and a printer easily available to me will allow me to better my instruction.
