My Project

At our Junior High, we do not have an official adopted curriculum for the students taking social studies in grades sixth through eighth. Last year, we were able to rebuild the curriculum, from scratch, for both the seventh and eighth grade. In the spring, our board of directors voted to move the sixth grade students back to the junior high campus. Once again, we were left with a grade level curriculum that had to be built from the ground up. Currently, our social studies department has planned the first quarter of the curriculum and the rest is a work in progress.

So, with all of that being said, how does this relate to COVID-19 and helping our students transition back both emotionally and academically?

Our goal as a department is to create a "textbook" out of the students composition notebooks. Students spent so much time staring at a computer screen over the past two years. We are trying to give students a break from technology, as much as possible, and have developed many activities to create an "interactive" notebook. Students will be take on a, "Journey Through History".
