Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of the students at our school are receiving free or reduced-rate lunch. The students in our school are well-behaved and are always looking for a challenge. Our school is located in a central part of the city where many cultures live together.

Our school is unique because, even with such a diverse population, the students manage to get along and do the job that is expected from each and every one of them.

We are fortunate to have an after school Science Club which serves students from 4th and 5th grades. This club challenges students through STEAM related activities and competitions.

My Project

This year, our elementary school will be starting our first ever Robotics Team. The team will be competing in many robotics competitions throughout the year. Robotics introduces students to engineering and motivates them to be involved in creating future technology.

Over 93% of our students receive free and reduced-price lunch, making it very challenging to get the funds and equipment needed to have a chance of ranking among the top competitors in the competitions.

Our Robotics Team needs to purchase the official playing field for the competition so that the students can practice on the official course of this year's competitions.

The team will be competing in many robotics competitions throughout the year. Robotics introduces students to many parts of the STEAM curriculum. STEAM related activities will motivate students to pursue future STEM related careers.
