Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Scholars are determined, smart, motivated, and hard working individuals. our school community is like a family with the motto of small school, big heart. The school community environment helps foster a sense of belonging and unity within our students.

Our school is located in a low income, industrial area of Houston.

The immediate area around the school is surrounded by trucking companies. There are very few major businesses in the area. Even with this, our students are creative and have a thirst for knowledge. We have a vast array of skills within our small school.

My Project

Wraparound Services was added to the school in 2018 to address the non academic needs of students and families. The items on this list will be used to address the immediate basic needs of students and families in the community.

Many families in our community struggle with food insecurity and limited access to resources.

Some teachers send their morning helping students wash their face or fix their hair. By adding these items to our existing care closet, families will be able to stock discreet bags with items they believe their family needs. Students will also have snacks to access if they are hungry in class.
