Middle school students are amazing! They are creative innovators who all have their own way to solving a problem. Our technology classes strive to create an atmosphere where students can feel comfortable enough to take risks, learn from other's strengths and build a sense of community to collaborate together.
Teaching technology we see students come to class with excitement, eager to learn and share their own skills.
Technology is one subject that allows the students to bring their knowledge of media to the discussion. We hope to use these experiences and skills to drive instruction, conversation, and collaboration with media tools to empower student voice.
My Project
Students will use TynkerCAD and online computer aid design program to create a prototype of an object used to help people in our community. Using a cooperative learning approach, students will put their creative minds together and work on helping others. The best designs will be 3D printed and donated to the community that could use their product.
Obtaining a 3D printer would allow each technology teacher in our school to keep one in their room.
This way all students could see it print in action and their ideas come to life. We only have one for the building right now and not all kids can see how it works. I really feel they need to see this process to understand how their ideas come to fuition.
