Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is in an urban district where not everyone has funds for uniforms. Sometimes students struggle to come to school when they are not feeling good about what they are wearing.

Having school uniforms can help students focus and reduce distractions in their learning while also minimizing the external pressures of clothing choices.

Studies have shown that students who are feeling confident and comfortable in their clothes has improved attendance. Some studies even indicate that there are decreased reports of misconduct in schools that utilize school uniforms.

Some studies indicate that low-income students in schools with uniforms have better attendance than low-income students in schools without uniforms.

The biggest reason that we have school uniforms is for convenience. Uniforms make mornings easier for students and parents by removing the need to dig through clothes. However, throughout the year kids grow, clothes get worn out, and sometimes life gets too busy and things just don't get washed.

Having clothes on hand helps us support our families who may need a little help or give a student the confidence to complete the day.
