This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Growing a garden will help all be engaged and have fun while learning about plant growth! This year we started to clear out the space on the side to create a school garden/outdoor learning space. With the addition of these garden supplies, students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on gardening activities, fostering a deeper understanding of plant growth processes and environmental science. The overall goal of this garden space is to get all grade levels outside to get their hands dirty with the final outcome of raising their own vegetables and flowers. Creating a beautiful looking space as well as a bountiful crop once we get it going. The student’s will learn how to set up a working garden and how to care for it. With the greenhouses and the seed starters we can begin plants indoors at the end of winter/early spring and the students will be able to monitor up close the cycle of the plants before they go in the ground. This will help students take care of plants, check growth each day, and compare the growth each day

Students learn best with hands-on material and not all learning needs to happen inside the classroom!

The primary goal of our Community Garden is to integrate practical, experiential learning into our everyday curriculum through classroom gardening. This project not only promotes STEM literacy but also nurtures a sense of environmental stewardship and well-being among students, as they witness the marvels of plant growth and develop a deeper connection to the natural world. With your support, we can cultivate curiosity, scientific inquiry, and a passion for learning in the hearts and minds of our students.
