My Project
I am a special education teacher for high school students with diverse learning needs. All of my students have Autism or other disabilities that present them with a unique set of obstacles. At our school, we focus on teaching our students to volunteer and give back to the school and local community in as many ways as possible. A few years ago, our beloved retired principal passed away, and we have been planning a carnival to honor her legacy.
Help provide my students with a hot dog machine, carnival prizes, and bubbles to create student-led carnival stations at our school's family fun day in June 2025.
The carnival will be open to the entire school and local community. My service star students have requested these resources themselves, and will use them to set up stations. We will have students learning (with adult supervision and parent permission!) to grill and package hot dogs to hand out for lunch. Other students will be setting up games and obstacle courses using our P.E equipment, and have requested small prizes for game patrons to win. A third group of students would like to have smaller bubbles to hand out, to go along with our bubble station. This carnival will show kindness to the entire school and local community as it will be an excellent way to bring the community together to honor the legacy of Ms. Posa and spread kindness and happiness to all!
