Communication Through Sensory Activities

My Students

Help our vibrant students with autism develop better communication skills through sensory activities.Our students are all unique and communicate in a variety of ways. Some use pictures or signs to get wants and needs across, while others can approximate sounds. Each student has specific learning and communication challenges that we would like to focus on.

They require different sensory materials that allow them to participate more fully in small group activities.

Due to the current circumstances of COVID, all students require their own sensory bins so that they can remain healthy and safe during this uncertain time, but still get the fun sensory activities that help stimulate their young minds!

My Project

Since COVID, students will be in a hybrid learning structure. This means they will be in person at school every other week, and the rest of instruction will be done remotely from their homes. My goal is to be able to provide students with whatever they need to succeed, not just in my classroom but at home as well. Since all my students have autism, they often have sensory needs and experiences. These materials could help with everything from pre writing, number recognition to communication preference on items and participating in fine motor groups more fully. The best part is, students will be engaged during their usage of these materials which will only enhance what they take away from our lessons. There is no doubt in my mind that these materials will make a positive impact on my student's learning experience.
