Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of individuals that come from all parts of the five boroughs. All students are held at the highest standard of academic achievement and are embraced by their cultural diversity.

My students are bright individuals with various academic levels of learning needs.

They value the importance of learning for growth and development. Being that we are a Title I school, there are high percentages of students that come from low-income households and yet required to meet the academic standards.

We create different opportunities for student learning and growth in the classroom that is tailored to their learning needs. It is important for my students to learn from one another and value the importance of their education as young children.

My Project

As a special educator teaching students with many levels of academic needs, it is important that students value the importance of learning for growth and development. This can be accomplished through flexible seating in the classroom.

It is also important for students to be in charge of their own environment in order to realize how they learn best.

For my students, it can be hard to sit all day and learn. That is why flexible seating will help them learn more and succeed as future leaders. With flexible seating, students will be in charge of the best way they can learn. They can choose where they will like to work. Floor cushions are useful because they are portable and students can learn anywhere they choose to- in or outside of the classroom. Portable lap desks allows for a versatile work surface for students to work throughout the classroom. Last but not least, fidget bands for school chairs will provide even the most challenging students with sensory input without causing distraction amongst other students. All this while making learning FUN!
