This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What is a kindergarten classroom without a rug?! Student voice and belonging are at the core of our kindergarten/1st grade classroom. I have selected this oval rug to amplify each student's voice whether that be verbally, gesturally, or through a communication device. While seated in an oval, all faces can be seen. Students and grown-ups alike will have a space on the rug to meaningfully participate and learn from one another.

We appreciate every contribution to help our K/1 classroom build community and belonging through Circle-time.

Circle-time is for building foundational literacy skills, exploring mathematics, investigating the arts, science and social studies, and identifying the feelings of ourselves and others. Though, a circle is much more than that. Circle-time is for story-telling, turn-taking, game-playing, and cultivating joy; Circle-time is for coming together in mind and heart.
