Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are currently half way through their childhood education. It feels, however, as though I have a class full of adults.

Their funds of knowledge have a strong presence in our classroom and these students are their own leaders in their learning.

They are very passionate about current events and are very outspoken. They have a strong interest in student activism.

Their creativity and informative thoughts shine through their writing. Many of our lessons center around past and current events. This has allowed students to understand the root of where our society has begun and how it has evolved to what it is now. Through reading, they learned many of their morals and social responsibilities. Their sense of social responsibility and their role in society has motivated them to persevere through their adversities. They live by the saying that: "Knowledge is power." My students have found an identity through education and are continuing to develop that identity.

My Project

These books will relieve the students from the stress of the PDF books we have been currently using. It will allow us all to be on the same page both literally and figuratively. A paperback book gives a sense of connection to students as it is a tangible product that they are allowed to swiftly swift through. Students would have it readily available in order for them to annotate and cite evidence from the text. These books will also encourage students to actively participate as it is easier to navigate.
