Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school in Florida. There are over twenty students in my first grade class. My students are in the 'Gifted' program. Almost all of my students are Hispanic. Often, their parents work in restaurants and hotels. Our families cannot spend a lot of money on books for their children. Like kids everywhere, my students love comic books. AKJ and Donors Choose have partnered on a 50% matching offer on TOONS comics. My children would love those books!

My Project

I don't have to tell you how much children like comic books. These TOON books ('Shark King', 'Benjamin Bear', 'Luke On The Loose', 'Zig and Wikki' etc.) are beautifully illustrated. Not all of my students have access to a lot of books at home, so it is very important to provide them with reading material. This collection includes several non-fiction titles that entertain at the same time as they educate. The books will increase my students' reading skills and boost their imaginations. I am sure that my students will thoroughly enjoy them. Please help my children take advantage of this great offer from AKJ!
