Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of the students in my classroom come from a low socio economic area. Many of them do not carry the necessary and most basic supplies. Our school provides students with crayons, pencils, highlighters, and journals that are much needed throughout the school year. There are other things that the schools cannot provide due to conflict in budget. Students in our community are faced with distinct challenges, but that does not intimidate them. My students have the desire to learn and explore new things! They are the explorers, scientists, envisionaries of tomorrow.

My Project

For the last couple of years, my students have asked if the school is able to purchase new chairs. Every year I explain that we do not have enough money in our budget. Buying new chairs will allow students to be in a comfortable setting where they can sit and learn. Students will not have to worry about getting their leg or clothing pinched by the crevices on the chairs. Our classroom will be more conducive to learning if our furniture is in good conditions. Having a safe and updated classroom environment is crucial to the learning process of students.

On another note, this year I was able to checkout iPads for students to use in my classroom, but the iPads don’t have a case to protect them.

We would like to have cases on the iPads to prevent any damage.
