Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Aspirantes con Orgullo! My students are fourth graders at a bilingual charter school. Students receive education in both English and in Spanish, wherefore by the time they move onto high school, they will be fully bilingual. We are a Title I school, with 90% percent of our students coming from low income families.

To ignite a child's curiosity and make connections to the world around them.

Many of our students have not had the opportunity to make the proper gains in English language arts. My goal as an English teacher is to allow my students to make a meaningful connection to each unit I present to them through reading a variety of genres and writing (creative, argumentative, persuasive, etc.). Seeing my students enjoy learning about the world of books (and language) and making personal connections brings me such joy and pleasure! To be able to provide my students with more tools to further their love for learning, reading, and English language arts, would mean a great deal.

Thank you for considering our cause and sharing it with others! Sincerely, An Ecstatic English Teacher! :-)

My Project

I am requesting dictionaries, bean bags, and floor chairs for the reading area in my room. My students have not had the opportunity to truly grow a love for reading and the English language. Reading is an adventure that every child can experience just by finding a comfy seat and diving in! Along with enjoying their reading escape, having a tool to help them understand all that they are reading, would give students the confidence to grow in their comprehension and vocabulary acquisition.

I want to be able to provide my students the much needed resources, as these chairs and dictionaries, in order to cultivate an positive learning environment that appreciates the English language and finds the enjoyment in what it has to offer in books!
