Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Join me in creating a safe, comfortable and relaxing learning environment where scholars may continue to grow as readers, writers and mathematicians. Our room follows the workshop model which consists of students gathering in the meeting area for a read aloud, conversation, teaching point or math warm up. Scholars are given free choice to take charge of their own learning and find a spot in the classroom during independent time to complete his/her work. Scholars may choose to cozy up and read a book, continue working on their writing or finish up the math independent work. Students may choose to sit on the classroom couch, bean bags, wobble chairs.

Giving students options allows students to be motivated and engaged in their learning.

Flexible seating promotes self awareness, self management, decision making, opportunities, and relationship skills in a classroom among scholars and teacher. I have seen a positive impact in my classroom environment and student behavior since they are able to take ownership of their own learning, strength and skills.
