Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The energetic, fidgety and at first reluctant readers from one of my 4th grade classes, pours into the library twice a week. They are forced to cram and squeeze into any nook they can fit. Due to a limited amount of movable stools (and no one wishes to sit at the tables,) there are often conflicts about who gets to have which seat. Meanwhile, others struggle with trying to get comfortable on the floor and or squeeze under computer stations.

My Project

These new and comfortable seating arrangements will make a great addition to our newly renovated library. Students will have the ability to choose where they'd like to sit and have a better option other than lying down on the hard carpet. This will allow for more time spent engaged in independent reading and less time trying to get comfortable. In addition it will alleviate the constant need to go from chair to floor and back again. There will be no need to compete for space and will avoid fights over I had that first or I wanted to sit there.
