My Project

Having a Comfy Classroom, aka flexible seating allows my students the freedom of movement within the class. It also allows them to take responsibility for their learning. They are allowed to choose a spot within the classroom that works best for them. A place where they're attentive and engaged in daily math lessons and small group work with peers. Our flexible seating from last year is worn and torn. I would love to start this school year off fresh, new, and comfy!

We spend a great deal of the class period in small groups. The five stools are needed in this location. Who wants to sit in hard, boring, traditional seats, period after period? Not I, so I don't want it for my students. With having the bean bag chair, students are able to sit on the floor, be comfortable and relaxed while solving difficult math word problems either individually or with a friend.

By providing my students with lap desks, icing on the cake. They're able to flow to different areas of the classroom and take their desk with them.

I've noticed, when my students have a "voice" in what they do and where they learn, they're more engaged and ready to learn. They are less disruptive and really get work done. What great mathematicians they'll become!!
