My Students

My students are hard-working and inspired to make their ambitions come true. Like many school districts, we lack funds to be able to provide students with the materials they need to be successful in the 21st century. Third graders get excited when they see their success with different materials, resources and manipulatives. To see their faces light up as they are figuring out new concepts and life is exciting.

Teachers at my school are motivated by the success of all students both academically and in preparing them for life.

Our school currently serves K-3 students with rigorous academics and beginning next fall 2018-2019 we will serve students K-5. I am a part of a teacher culture that is driven to inspire the minds of young people.

These materials will allow my students to meet their fullest potential.

My Project

Students today need a different type of learning environment. Today, you see many coffee shops with standing tables, couches, etc. People are focused and productive in these environments. My students are in need of the same type of environment to be successful in their learning. During lessons, students can spend up to 15 minutes on the floor. This can become very uncomfortable for some students throughout the day. The Flex Seats will provide a more comfortable seating situation for students that may need it, and in return can be more engaged to the learning.

Students spend much of their day sitting, they need more comfortable seating options that can also allow more movement to give them a more active brain.

I want to design my classroom in an alternative manner to provide my students with the opportunity to work in a relaxed environment so they can be active learners. It will set the stage for collaboration and real world simulation. Alternative seating will be beneficial to my students.
