My Students

Many of my students come from low income households, in a very large district. Our school is out of the district over-flow school, since the students home school is completely full. Yet, despite all of the challenges my students face, they come to school each day with big smiles on their faces. They are motivated and excited to learn. I love to see their eyes light up when they define new word or solve a math problem.

Every child deserves to feel safe and loved.

Making school fun while learning is all I really want for my students. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience in my class. By making school a place they want to go I am hopeful to inspire our learners to continue to love school and move forward with a positive attitude about their education.

My Project

Stress and frustration is real for everyone, students included! Students have those same moments during the day, but walking out of the classroom can cause them to get in trouble.

I’m creating a space in my room called the Calming Corner.

It will have many calming activities that will help the students to refocus for class. This corner will allow the students to take a moment and bring their emotions to a level that they can rejoin the class for lessons. What they need are comfortable seats while they are in the calming corner. With your help I can make this vision happen for my students! Thank you!
