This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very creative and enthusiastic about learning. Against all odds, they strive to excel not only in an academic setting but in a social one as well. It is important to provide a safe, secure, and loving setting so their first school experience can be a positive one.
One by one, they walk into my classroom with a ready-to-learn attitude.
They are always positive and caring towards each other and share a feeling of accomplishment when the day is over. My students have limited resources and are part of a 95% economically disadvantaged school.
My Project
Students visit our mindfulness center periodically throughout the day. In this center, they are able to manage their emotions in a safe and secure manner. We have Enso and Buddha boards, Social and Emotional books, small rug, pillows, and an oil diffuser. I would love to add two comfy chairs and a year supply of essential oils.
Two comfy, kid friendly chairs, and a year supply of essential oils is all it takes to complete this special place!
The students look forward to visiting our mindfulness center in our classroom and it truly helps each and every one of them feel better about managing their feelings.
