Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am privileged to serve a fantastic bunch of kind, resilient and bright students from the community in a high-poverty area in The Bronx. My students deserve the best resources to learn. I am supporting my students to experience returning to a school year full of fantastic items/resources to help with their learning, nourish their hope, and the healthy mindset that new possibilities exist to support healing as we go through the post-pandemic. The more welcome my students feel, the more excited they will feel to come to school every day and continue learning. I am creating a cozy and welcoming space for all my students to enjoy. We are undergoing unprecedented times, and keeping the spirit up is one of the simple things we all can do to continue moving forward to a new time in our lives. For me, having a cozy and welcoming space with the resources my students need can enhance their abilities to learn more and feel more enthusiastic every day.

My Project

The chairs will make a difference in my students' learning by providing them with the body support they will need to engage in the activities. Currently, I have a square, table and the chairs are below the level for my students to sit and align their body posture to it. These chairs will provide them with the benefit of sittting comfortably, and these would not move and moreover, the proper support to their body and alignment for them to work without needing to adjust their bodies or chair to the table.
