This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

No one likes to sit in hard, uncomfortable chairs...this includes my students!

My students are exceptional learners who know that smart is not something you are, but something you become.

They are a diverse group of students who come together each school day to do their best. We are in a public school in a city of Massachusetts. It is an inclusion classroom, which means there are students with special needs included. The families are a big part of the school's culture, with a lot of family involvement.

My Project

Not only will these cushions keep my students more comfortable, they will also help them stay in their seats! They are often squirming in their seats; I hope that with these cushions, they can focus more on learning. We also have a rug where we gather for community meetings, lessons, read alouds, during these times, they can also be more comfortable, and bring their cushions to the rug.

Having these cushions are important to our learning because they will help the students not only be more comfortable, but be able to stay more focused on what they are learning.

It is very difficult for some of the students to stay in their seats for an extended amount of time. Although we stretch and exercise throughout the day, I know these cushions will provide them with that extra support they all need.
