My Students

I teach in a small community and over 90% of our kids are on free/reduced lunch. The majority of my students live in poverty. I have students from many culturally diverse backgrounds. I have had students from Somalia, the Pacific Islands of Pohnpei and Pinglap and Guam. From El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

These kids literally come from all over the world.

They are so diverse and unique. The majority are English Language Learners who speak a second language. In fact, 187 of the 400 students in our building are English Language Learners.

My Project

These items will create a cozy place for students to work and read. No one likes to sit at a desk and enjoy a good book. With a nice rug and comfy chairs, students can dive into a great book and take off to a world of imagination. Students learn best in a classroom that is inviting. This project strives to create such a place for my students to be successful. Students will be able to relax and learning will become more enjoyable for everyone. These items will make students excited to come to school. They will be ready to learn in a cozy classroom.
