My Students

Our school is over 107 years old and the library has not received any updates since the late 1980s. My students come from low-income families, and for many, their visits to the library are their only contact with a library and access to new books.

I am the school librarian for 275 smart, kind and spunky children who love to read!

They get so excited every time they hear a new story in the library. They thrive in a warm, and inviting environment where they can read, write, collaborate and express their creativity.

My Project

In the library, my students are currently sitting in chairs that are over thirty years old. The library serves as a learning hub with daily lessons targeted at developing a love for reading, and acquiring much needed literacy and 21st-century technology skills.

My students will thrive with new comfortable chairs for reading, collaborating and engaging in literacy activities.

Students enjoy coming to the library to read and learn; however, the lack of adequate seating is a serious hindrance to their productivity. New chairs will make a huge difference in my students' lives as it will allow them to have comfortable seating to succeed and thrive in.
