My Project

The students at our school are a very diverse group of people and each one has particular needs. Many students have gone through trauma in their lives or simply suffer from the repercussions that Covid-19 has had on so many people.

Students have suffered greatly due to the pandemic, and this is no more evident than in the classroom.

Being in the comfort of their own homes for so long has made it difficult to go back to a more "sterile" environment. While I try to make my room as inviting as possible, I cannot afford flexible seating for them, and I know it would be a great benefit for them and their learning.

My current loveseat and futon are highly popular and a great place for my students to sit back and read their books. But the wear and tear over the past few years have forced me to put these areas of my room off limits. A new couch will bring back this much desired area.

I have several students with Autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities and they have found that my exercise balls are great tools to keep them focused and moving. Sometimes these movements end up a bit dangerous though and I worry about kids falling back and off the balls (a few close calls will do this), so getting support bases for my class yoga balls will take that worry away and allow my kids who need movement, to move once again.
