My Project

My students are thoughtful and curious, and interested in learning new things. Students at my school come from a high poverty level, which results in a high percentage of free and reduced lunch. We have no budget to buy classroom materials and often as educators, we have to buy supplies ourselves. In order for our students to reach their full potential, we want to make sure to personalize our classroom to meet all students' needs.

Our special education classroom is in need of comfort items to help support students positively throughout their day.

We are looking for Donors to help support comfort in our room by providing flexible seating options, snacks, toys, blankets, and cleaning wipes. My students with Autism can have a difficult time with managing their emotions, and having these comfort items will help them be successful. Having bouncy seats, a rocking chair, and wobble stool will provide much needed sensory input throughout the day to help them be more comfortable and calm. Having snacks available means they can freely get a snack when they are hungry instead of engaging in behaviors because they are unable to say how they are feeling. Having new toys in the room helps keep students' interest as well as making their learning environment more fun. Blankets help with regulating body temperature, and providing a place to hide and feel safe. We are also looking to get additional wipes to keep our classroom clean and safe for everyone.
