Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My sixth grade students are at an elementary school while other kids their age are already in a middle school. This presents a unique situation where they still get to be children instead of growing up too fast. My class is full of characters. I cannot wait to get to know each student more.

We are in Los Angeles, where it's mostly sunny every day.

Living in Southern California means that my classroom is a mix of students from different backgrounds. I want all of them to feel comfortable and safe in class every day.

My Project

Do you like sitting in hard chairs? I don't either. This is why I love flexible seating. If you have never heard of flexible seating, it just means that instead of a traditional desk and chair a student can sit on a yoga ball. There are a lot of different types of flexible seating, and that's the beauty of it. Students can choose where they would like to sit to do their work for the day.

Allowing students to take control of their learning by giving them choices does wonders.

They learn responsibility and many benefits from the ability to fidget in the classroom. A student can choose to sit on a rug or need the flexibility that a wobble stool allows. Students love flexible seating, and it is always a good thing when a child is excited to go to class.
