This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students face daily challenges outside of school, yet they come in with a desire to learn, grow, and succeed. They inspire me with their determination even when resources are limited.

The items I'm requesting - socks, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and snacks will make a significant difference in their learning by addressing essential needs.

When students have access to basic hygiene products and snacks, they can focus on their studies rather than worrying about discomfort or hunger. Feeling clean, comfortable, and well-nourished boosts their confidence and helps them stay engaged in their classrooms. A student who feels cared for is more likely to succeed academically and emotionally.

The goal of this project is to create a supportive environment where students feel valued and empowered. By meeting their basic needs, I aim to reduce barriers that might otherwise prevent them from fully participating in their education. Something as simple as clean socks or a snack during the day can remind them that they are cared for and capable of achieving great things.

What makes my students special is their incredible perseverance and sense of community. Despite facing systematic inequalities, they show up ready to tackle challenges and support one another. Providing these resources is one way I can show them the same care and support they show to each other every day. Together, we can ensure that they not only succeed in the classroom but also feel ready to take on the world.
