My Students

Every morning we start off our day with morning meeting. During this time we talk about what we will be learning about, while also getting to learn more about each other. This time is so important for me to learn more about my students and for them to learn about each other.

I'm the teacher to the third grade ESL class.

They are a group of students that come from many different parts of the world but come together as one family in the classroom. Some of my students arrived in the country as little as six months ago, but work extremely hard to be on the same level as the other students. I'm am so proud of the progress my students have made so far, and I know they will continue to make great improvements. I currently work in a title one school, where there is very little money left over to provide classrooms with new materials. As only a second year teacher, most of my materials are handed down from previous teachers and have had many years of distress. The teachers here are apart of one big family. We donate our own time and money to get our students what they deserve!

My Project

Meeting on the rug is something that occurs every day, during every period. We gather here to discuss our day, what we have learned, and to learn new ideas. Having a rug that would fit all 30 of my students would make out gathering time more enjoyable and successful. Right now, students have to sit on the cold, tile floor in the winter because they don't all fit onto the rug area. With a new rug, it will now be a place where students can learn comfortably and focus on what is being taught rather than how uncomfortable they are on the tile floor.

With donations from people, my classroom will become a safe, comfortable environment for students to come and learn.

Many of my students come from shelters, so school is supposed to be the place where they are most comfortable. Being able to supply a new, clean rug for my students would make their learning experience more enjoyable and successful.
