My students from Philadelphia are part of a pilot program that connects Head Start and Bright Futures children. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.
They gleefully read books, draw pictures, build structures, and pretend play throughout the day.
They beam with joy as they proudly identify letters and discover sounds. They love to learn!
My Project
Every morning my students come to the big carpet in the back of the classroom and gather to read books, listen to a great story, and sometimes dance and sing. The lines within the worn carpet also serves as the streets and roads to our classroom's cars and dump trucks as well as the fuzzy foundation to build a tower using wooden blocks. Our current classroom carpet has permanent stains, worn areas, and rolls up in the corner.
I would like to replace our worn rug with a clean, colorful carpet.
The new cheerful spot would serve as a comfortable seating area during read aloud and during block play. This area would also be a great learning tool to teach colors and shapes while students gathered to play and learn.
