This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a 4th grade, ICT classroom (Integrated Co-Teaching) which is an inclusion room with students with and without disabilities. As we come back from a trauma filled year, creating a calm classroom where students feel welcome is the most important.

We are a high-needs, Title I school located in a low-income neighborhood.

I am a teacher in a high poverty/low-income school district. My students are faced with challenges in and out of the classroom, especially in relation to what's happening in the world. My goal is to create a caring classroom environment where students receive meaningful and applicable learning experiences every day.

My Project

My goal is for the students to be in a calm environment where I can not only teach them academics but also tend to their social emotional needs. Creating a positive atmosphere is the perfect place to start on this journey back to a more typical classroom experience.

Students will feel welcomed and calm after the traumatic year with boho-based classroom decor as well as independent with a material organization cart.

I hope to create a calm environment by incorporating new bulletin board backgrounds, plants, garlands by the windows, and an organization cart will help students quickly be able to get what they need.
