Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Guess what? My students are the most AMAZING children. I am pre-school teacher in Elizabeth, NJ. My classroom has 16 girls and 14 BOYS. (I work in a dual language school) They come from all different cultural backgrounds. The majority from low income homes. They come to school every day, eager to learn and explore.They are learning to understand about feelings and needs of others, and their behavior shows that they can feel empathy for others and can share their toys and take turns. Four year old children learn by playing with manipulatives, listening and looking at beautiful colorful books.

My Project

Help our students learn more science, math and literacy by having hands on materials to explore while they learn literacy, science and math. The materials break throughout the years, they get lost and my classroom is almost depleted of manipulatives.

Manipulatives are an important part of children's learning, especially for 3 and four year old students.

Also students have fun, which has been proven to increase engagement, motivation and self-confidence.

Students with that have an innovative , common sense, dynamic, tactile or kinesthetic learning styles learn best when involved in hands-on tasks and games.

In addition, manipulatives help students make the leap from intuitive to logical thinking, from the concrete to the abstract.
