Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a dynamic, creative, restless bunch of teenagers. Their interests range from fashion, to sports, to politics and film.

They come from a neighborhood that struggles with poverty, gangs, and drugs.

Many of these kids will be the first in their families to enter college after they graduate from high school.

The kids who need your donations are theatre artists and and future professional actors and stage techs. Their passion and dedication are truly inspiring. Invest in them and, believe me, they will flourish.

My Project

For the past three years, me and my students have been putting on plays for GHS. What started out as a class project turned into an after-school club. Since then, because of our work, Garfield now has a theater program!

Our past shows were performed in a small blackbox theater.

Our sets and costumes were made out of construction paper. The actors projected their voices to audiences of 99 people.

This year, with brand new theater classes being offered at Garfield, and a student ensemble with talent that is professional level, we are putting on a show in a 1,300 seat theater.

Help us out! These actors need to be heard. That's why we need these microphones.
