My Students

My third graders are very fun, loving, caring, and eager to learn! They all come from different backgrounds, from single parent households to families with two working parents, and parents who work multiple jobs. Regardless of their family life they walk into my classroom every day ready to make amazing things happen. We have a saying in my class, “Amazing Things Happen Here”, and that is what they strive to do each and every day!

My Project

Having a bright and inviting place to sit, learn, and collaborate allows students to be comfortable in their learning environment. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. The carpet I have selected has individual squares that are in the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, green, blue, and purple). The individual squares helps students to recognize where they sit on the carpet which can be a difficult task, and the colorful rows can also be used to easily assign collaborative work. The indivIdual squares can also be used to help solidify multiplication and division skills as it is in the form of an array. Students learn through visualization and by making real world connections! I have always had hand me down rugs from previous teachers which I have always appreciated, but I would love to give my students a bright new beginning! Thank you for supporting my project!
