My Students

My students are learning English as a second language and have limited vocabularies. A color printer would bring life and excitement to introducing new words and phrases to my students. Seat sacks will help to keep them focused on the task at hand.

My students are 1st grade Special Education students and English as a second language students.

They are faced with more obstacles then most students are faced with. They reside in Brooklyn, NY and are considered to be of low poverty. They have set high expectations for themselves and are very motivated to succeed. They are caring and loving and they deserve the best of everything.

My Project

My students are easily distracted because of age, language barriers and disabilities. Keeping the tables clutter free would help insure longer periods of on task behavior and less bothering with pencils, papers and books that are on the tables. I will use the seat sacks to store materials that are needed in quick reach like pencils and notebooks. A color printer will help in motivation and ensuring my students pick up new vocabulary that is taught by using picture clues. When introducing a new word, I will be able to show them something the matches the vocabulary and idea I am teaching. Many of my students are new to the county and need visual clues. Our classroom would come alive with color.

My project is important because my students are important.

I can not afford to buy these materials myself or else I would. They are our future and they deserve the best opportunities and chances in life. They are already a step behind other students. I have several students who have been held back because of their disabilities. I want them to find their talents and gain a sense of importance and self worth through success.
