My Project

This project is special because it focuses on giving my 2nd graders an activity that will help calm their minds and bodies. Coloring is a fun, creative, and excellent fine motor activity. We work hard during our school day on our academics and we are communicating with others throughout the entire day. It is crucial to have some quiet times and I've been learning about sensory rests for our minds and bodies. It is important for my students to have some time in the day and in between rigorous lessons to reset their minds and do a calming activity.

Mindfulness is just as important for students to participate in during their school day as other subject areas.

A little saying that I've seen says, "Deep breaths are like little love notes for your body." Giving my students coloring books and new crayons will help us create a short time in our day for sensory rest and encourage their minds to calm and be filled with joy.
