My Students

My school in Brooklyn is a Title 1 school which has many students who have basic living needs. The school has a strong art focus, and all the students work towards a huge end of the year art show. This year the art show will be virtual.

Our art projects build on art skills, world learning and problem solving.

Many of my students are doing a great job of following my art projects even remotely. Unfortunately, they don't have the money to go buy art supplies, and need help to expand their art ideas and motivation.

My Project

Students will be using watercolor paints to draw endangered animals in their habitats and cityscapes with architectural ornamentation. What is a coral reef with no color? Or sunflowers with just a pencil on lined paper? So far my students are doing their best, but they need color to make them happy and enjoy their art making time.

The art projects inspire drawing skills but beauty and color combinations are what make students inspired and motivated.

I will send students supplies in the mail to their house to help them learn and explore art themes such as nature, famous artists, and architecture.
