Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in an inner city struggling through issues of drugs, crime, violence, and poverty, but despite it all, they maintain a high level of hope and pride in their city.

The culture of the community is highly creative and expressive in many aspects of the arts, from visual arts to theater, to music, to dance.

The people and students here support and embrace the creative arts unlike many wealthier areas, and the people shine very bright because of it.

My Project

The students will be using the painting brushes to create some extremely colorful murals that illustrate photographs of our city. The brushes will be put to good use especially considering the minute details the students are painting into the work. The brushes will also be used to help the students create very colorful ink portraits on paper of people they admire.

All of the supplies are extremely valuable to the students due to the limited budget for the arts.

The charcoal and drawing supplies will be used to to help the students create self portraits, the white charcoal and blending stumps help the students add the extra highlights and subtle tones needed for the finishing touches.
