Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive, eager young learners. Ranging from 5 to 6 years old, they are natives of the Caribbean Islands, Central America, and South America. My students have a pulsating thirst for gaining new skills and knowledge. They put 101% effort into all of their work, even when confronted with obstacles. When confronted with a challenge, class 1-2 likes to say it is “coo-coo bananas,” and tackle it as a united front. With every success, no matter how big or small, the students “kiss their brains” and “hug their hearts” for a job well done.

My Project

A color printer will enhance my students' learning in more ways than one. We currently do not have access to a color printer at school, therefor resources that we print are in black and white. For first graders, especially those with learning needs, education must be colorful and engaging. High-quality color printing will improve how my students absorb new concepts and influence the overall mood of the classroom.

I will use color printing to create interactive visual aids for use in the classroom, which will help my students with focus, behavior expectations, and transitions.

I will also take advantage of color in classroom handouts, games, and center work. Additionally, my students will get to print their own color pictures using photo paper to reflect on past experiences. The sky's the limit when it comes to the visual materials we will be able to use!
