The students are 9th or 10th graders in a high poverty school in Northwest Indiana.
These students are members of the Early College High School program and are aspiring and hopeful first-generation college students.
They come from a variety of backgrounds, some with little to family experience in post-secondary schooling, and may need the extra help in getting prepared for post-secondary classes.
We are looking for materials to help us in both teaching and building on their knowledge of Science, specifically Chemistry, which due to circumstances out of our control is currently or repeatedly online and out of the classroom.
My Project
Learning from home can be difficult, and when you are unable to see some of the concepts that you are learning, it becomes even more. I am a firm believer in the concept that students learn better when they are able to reinforce their learning through experiments rather than just reading.
I am looking to buy materials that will allow me to design and implement at-home experiments or demonstrations over the computer with my students while they are learning virtually and in person.
I want to allow the students to do experiments or see demonstrations that will make them retain the concepts in chemistry better.
