My Project
I teach in a 2nd-grade ICT classroom. My students are incredible. They have an enthusiasm for learning and work hard to grow and meet their goals. Each day in our classroom is part of a beautiful, learning adventure.
Research has shown that students make more reading growth when they are able to practice and read decodable texts that have words specifically written for the skill(s) they are mastering.
Decodable readers are books that focus specifically on different phonics patterns that students need to understand and master before moving on to the next skill or phonics pattern. We are trying to create a fully decodable library for our students so that they can have a variety of books to choose from. We are already printing and using paper books to get started, but we want students to have a richer selection of “real” books to choose from to keep them engaged and to build their love of books and reading.
By donating, you will be helping us to create a library of decodable texts for all readers in the classroom. Students will be able to experience the joy of choosing a book that looks interesting to them and that they can work through and read.
