Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a diverse community in Queens, NY. They come from a huge variety of economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. We have many ENL students who are new English-language speakers and learners. Over 80% of our students qualify for free and/or reduced-price lunch.

Our school works hand-in-hand with the community to ensure the highest quality education for ALL students who attend here.

We have a focus on service learning and global conservation, where the students and staff take part in fundraising and creating awareness about issues within the community and around the world. We make global partnerships and teach important citizenship values to our students through these worldwide connections.

My Project

These materials will help us to continue to provide color copies to our 5th grader students. This resource is valuable to both my classroom, as well as other teachers on the grade who also utilize the color printer.

These copies are used by both our typical and special needs students, helping to provide them with color photos and scaffolds that reinforce their learning.

This printer is used many times a day, to print materials for our students, as well as print their writing and other projects. We are able to color-code information in their reading passages and on math practice sheets because of the access we have to color printing.
