Help me give my students a colorful carpet to sit together and start our day with Morning Meeting. The most important part of any classroom community is the people we spend our days and the relationships we build.
My students are kind and eager to learn. They work so hard every day and are especially excited in anything that involves technology.
I have seen such amazing progress with even the most reluctant writers when they move from pencil and paper to the computer screen.
My school is a public school located in MA. We are a K-8 school, with 897 students currently enrolled. Students at this school come from a variety of economic backgrounds. About sixty-two percent come from low-income families. Many children are first and second-generation immigrants. The diversity in this school is magnificent, we speak many languages-French Creole, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, and English. We celebrate how fortunate we are to educate so many children from all over the world.
Located north of Boston, our district is extremely ethnically diverse; over 60 languages are spoken throughout the district. In addition, many of our students receive reduced or free lunch.
My Project
Each morning my students gather to meet in our classroom. Here we come together to greet each other, laugh and have fun, and share important news for the upcoming day.
It is here where the magic happens!
Our new classroom rug will be the place where we meet for these activities. Sitting together in a special space is the cornerstone of Responsive
Responsive Classroom has been an integral part of my teaching for many years. I have found that children truly learn best when they start their day off together, get to know each other, and see the things they have in common.
The rug I have used for years needs to be replaced. Thanks for considering this project!
