Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher with 30 students. They would really enjoy a colorful carpet to sit on in front of our whiteboard to help keep them actively engaged in our lessons throughout the day! My students live in a high-need community where many come from at-risk homes. We have a wonderful caring staff and a supportive administration that help to make our school a safe and positive place in which to learn.

For many of my students, this is their first experience in school.

I want to do everything I can to make a positive impact on student achievement and help them be successful.

My Project

A carpet with 30 squares will give each child their own personal space. The five color-coded rows will make it incredibly easy to divide the class into small groups for centers, prepare for dismissal and much more.

Currently, my students are having difficulty with personal boundaries and creating a spot for themselves that is not too close to their classmates.

In order for students to focus on learning they need to have a defined space that a color-coded carpet with rows will provide. This will help all students to stay on-task and be able to work collaboratively

while reading, writing and completing math work.
