Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our K-8 students are such artistic and energetic children! At our small school in the Bronx, we are doing our best to to support our students' emotional well-being, encourage their curiosity, and look for any opportunity to help them feel welcome and appreciated during our indoor recess time!

Our students love to draw, color, and create amazing sculptures with play-doh during their recess time, since we, unfortunately, do not have a yard for them to play with after eating their lunch.

It's wonderful to see how they can make the most out of their time of relaxation with just some basic art supplies to keep their hands engaged and their minds exploring the possibilities that crayons and paper can bring! They have mentioned how soothing and entertaining coloring is after they eat their food. However, our art supplies have dwindled, and some of our younger students are devastated by the lack of colorful choices for their fantastic creations. I hope that we can remedy this by providing our various lunch periods with basic art supplies that soothe their minds and inspire their hearts to create whatever their hearts desire!

It would be amazing to share in their joy and smiles during recess with colors to spare!
