Carpe Diem! These are the words that greet my students daily as they enter our classroom. I aim to create an environment filled with creativity, educational challenges, happiness, and self-awareness. Every day my students rise to the challenge and truly seize the day!
My students attend a Title I public school in New York City where nearly 100% of students come from low-income households.
My students are a diverse group of intellectually gifted fourth graders. Their interests are unique and varied, yet they share the trait of innate inquisitiveness. Our classroom is a place of discovery and inquiry. We strive to tap into our higher-order thinking skills on a daily basis; pushing ourselves to explore and think deeply.
My Project
My students are an industrious bunch. They love to express themselves creatively. The paper and pencil sharpeners will allow them to have the tools they need to do so. Throughout the school year, my students participate in a wide array of project-based learning opportunities and varied enrichment activities. Often times the students themselves are choosing the means in which they wish to express what they have learned. Murals, songs, poems, raps, advertisements, scripts, collages, oil paintings, and graphic novels are just a few of the ways students have presented what they have learned during the year. My students are also a creative group. They are out of the box thinkers and approach problem-solving in unique ways.
Having access to a wide variety of paper and sharpened pencils will allow my students to broaden their options in terms of their creativity.
They will be able to tap into their inner artists and create meaningful expressions of their learning. As their teacher, I often tell them, "Get creative!' They never disappoint, as they wow me every time!
